Hey, everyone. My name is Tim, and today I'll be talking about conditional content in emails: what it is, how it works, and the benefits. Then I'll walk you through how to implement this in your campaigns. Let's get started.
Conditional content in ActiveCampaign is a powerful feature that allows you to tailor your email messages to specific segments of your audience based on interests, preferences, or other data stored in your ActiveCampaign account.
How does it actually work? Conditional content uses if-then logic to display or hide specific containers or structures within your emails. You set up rules based on tags and labels you assign to contacts to categorize them. For example: "interested in product X," "webinar attendee," or "VIP." You can also use custom fields, which are the unique data you store for each contact, such as their job title, purchase history, or other criteria like location or actions taken on your website and in emails, such as clicking a link or visiting a certain webpage. If a contact meets the specified conditions, they'll see the corresponding content block. If not, the block remains hidden.
Why should you actually use it? First, hyper personalization. Conditional content allows you to deliver messages that are highly relevant to each individual contact, increasing engagement and conversions.

It provides improved segmentation, allowing you to target specific groups with tailored content without having to create separate campaigns for each segment. It also streamlines email creation. You can build one email with multiple content variations, saving you time and effort.
Now, let's jump into the platform and see how we can implement this in your email campaigns. The example campaign I'm using today is a Father's Day campaign, which includes a coupon code. I don't want that coupon code to show if they've already purchased. I've identified those who have recently purchased and have added the tag "Father's Day Purchased."
Now, let's make the coupon code conditional. To do this, hover your mouse over the container or structure you want to show conditionally. Move your mouse to the white sidebar with the three dots and select "Conditional Content." It looks like an upside-down fork. The Conditional Content window will pop up. This is where you can add the segment of your contacts to whom you want to show the coupon code. In our case, we only want to show the coupon code to those who have yet to make a purchase.

To do this, I'm going to use the tag I created: "Father's Day Purchased." The segment will use "tag does not exist: Father's Day Purchased." This will leave the section below as "all," but you can change this to "any" if you have multiple conditions you want to show.
Now, click Save, and we're done. I would recommend testing to make sure it works and shows or hides as expected. That's it! Thanks for watching. I'll see you in the next video. Bye.
