How do you follow up with customers after a purchase from your online store? Is your follow-up personalized based on their customer status? Do first time customers get the same thank you email as repeat customers?

Personalize your post-purchase thank you emails with the "New vs. Repeat Customer Post-Purchase Follow-Up Email" automation recipe. Let your customers know that you care about them, and know who they are.

In ecommerce businesses, personalization is key:

- 80% of shoppers are more likely to buy from a company that offers personalized experiences
- 44% of consumers say that they will likely become repeat buyers after a personalized shopping experience with a particular company

This automation recipe helps you:

- Turn your first-time customers into repeat customers
- Build customer relationships
- Develop your ecommerce email marketing strategy
- Take advantage of the historic high email open rates of post-purchase emails
- Offer personalized follow up
- Segment your customers by number of purchases

Before importing this automation recipe into your ActiveCampaign account:

- Link your ecommerce store to ActiveCampaign via Deep Data integration
- (Recommended) import the "Store Customer First Purchase Date" automation recipe
- (Recommended) import the "Store Customer Last Purchase Date" automation recipe

Here's how the automation recipe works:

1. The automation is triggered when a contact makes a purchase from your ecommerce store and the information is synced to ActiveCampaign via Deep Data integration
2. The automation checks to see if the contact's "Total Orders" is 1
3. If yes, The automation sends a "Thank you for your purchase and welcome to Company!" email
4. The automation waits for 2 days and sends a "Brand introduction" email
5. If no, the automation checks to see if the contact's "Total Orders" custom field data is 2
6. If yes, The automation sends a personalized, "Thank you for your purchase and nice to see you again!" email
7. The automation waits 2 days and sends an email reiterating your service, more information about your business, or anything else you want to include to your repeat customers
8. If no, the automation sends an email with even more information about your business, and you can include a discount code, coupon, special offer or other incentive to let your repeat customers of 3 or more orders know that you appreciate them

Notes:

- You can change the length of time in any of the wait steps between emails to whatever makes the most sense for your business
- You can change the content of the post-sale emails to include anything that makes the most sense for your business
