We are rolling out Facebook Custom Audiences Sync for ActiveCampaign to all customers on Plus plans and above.
This new integration introduces two new automation actions; the “Add to Facebook Custom Audience” action, and the “Remove from Facebook Custom Audience“ action.
These two actions will allow ActiveCampaign customers to easily sync messaging across the entire customer lifecycle, so that email campaigns and Facebook ads can message your users in harmony.
With Facebook Custom Audiences Sync, marketers can tap into the advanced segmentation capabilities of the ActiveCampaign segment builder to add and remove contacts from Facebook advertising campaigns.
You can take advantage of all of the powerful segmentation features in ActiveCampaign and create Custom Audiences in Facebook that match up with your on-site, email, or SMS campaigns. This Facebook automation will help you automatically keep your Facebook advertising in sync and aligned with all your other marketing messaging.
What are Facebook Custom Audiences?
A Custom Audience from a customer list is a type of audience you can create made up of your existing customers. You can target ads to the audience you’ve created on Facebook, Instagram, and Audience Network.

81% of U.S. consumers use Facebook. The typical Facebook user spends an average of 40 minutes a day on it. This makes it an extremely valuable marketing opportunity—and you can probably reach the majority of your target market by advertising there.
There are 3 primary ways to target ads to customers on the Facebook Ads Network *;
- Interest based targeting – The most basic level of advertising on Facebook. Facebook lets you define a segment of Facebook Users that you want to serve ads to.
- Custom Audiences – Custom Audiences are similar to retargeting, only instead of relying on the Facebook tracking pixel to target customers, you upload a list of customer emails to Facebook. Facebook will then match the uploaded emails, to Facebook User emails in its system to serve ads to those customers.
Facebook Custom Audiences Sync for ActiveCampaign enhances the capabilities of the Custom Audiences method for advertising on Facebook. Instead of uploading a list of email addresses to target, the new automation actions will now add or remove your ActiveCampaign contacts from specific custom audiences on the Facebook Advertising platform, as they pass through your automations.
With Facebook Custom Audiences Sync, you can now run Facebook Ad Campaigns with messaging that matches recently sent email campaigns.

How to get started
with Facebook Custom Audience Sync
Get started setting up Facebook Custom Audiences Sync from the settings menu of your ActiveCampaign account. Click on “My Settings,” and then “Integrations” from the left-side menu.
Click on Add Integration, and select Facebook. You will be prompted to authorize Facebook and choose the Facebook Ads Account.
Once you have finished configuring your integration, you can use the “Add to Facebook Custom Audience” and “Remove from Facebook Custom Audience” action within your automations.
When you add either action to an automation, you will be able to configure the action by selecting which Facebook Ads Account and which Facebook Custom Audience you want to add or remove contacts from.
