Site Tracking Donation Ask


Wouldn't it be great to know when someone has engaged with your latest campaign, so you could ask for action right then?

Well, you can. Using site tracking, you can know when a contact has visited the landing page(s) for your latest campaign. This is when the story and your goals are fresh in your mind. If the contact takes action on their own, great! If they don't, then you can send them a little nudge.

This automation is activated when a contact visits the specific web page or subdomain. Then it waits for a few days and checks if they donated or took a desired action. If they didn't, then it sends an automated email encouraging them to do so.

Here's how this automation works:
1. The automation is triggered when a contact visits the page for your latest campaign.
2. The contact waits for two days.
3. The contact reaches an If/Else action that checks for if they donated since visiting the page.
4. If they have, they exit the automation.
5. If they have not, they are sent an email letting them know more about your latest campaign and encouraging them to give.

Note: You will need site tracking set up before setting this automation to active for it to work. You can also specify a subdomain of your site by using an asterisk (*) after the domain you want to track. Such as* would track any pages visited in the pricing subdomain of the site.

Note: In our example, we use the condition of "Last Donation Date is on or after current date minus 2." This checks a custom date field used to store the last donation date and sees if it's within the last two days, including today. We use this number because it reflects how long the contact was in the wait step since visiting the page.

Note: In our example, we use a custom date field for "Last Donation Date" that is populated by the recipe "Last Donation Date." You will want to build out this custom field before importing the recipe. If you track donations coming in differently, feel free to adjust this trigger accordingly.
