White Labeling in ActiveCampaign

Table of Contents

White labeling is not common in the marketing automation world. In fact, it is one of those rare gems available with ActiveCampaign that can add a ton of value to your business. Since we don’t talk about it nearly enough, we’re taking the opportunity to explain the feature and some use cases.

    Who White Labels ActiveCampaign?

White labeling is available on all Enterprise level accounts. There are also some limited white labeling capabilities available on Small Business accounts. There are two primary groups that utilize white labeling for ActiveCampaign:

    1. Agency: This group is probably the most likely to white label. Many kinds of agency power their marketing automation with ActiveCampaign.
    2. Regular customers: There are plenty of reasons to white label and personalize ActiveCampaign with your brand – more on this later.

White labeling abilities are included in your plan and do not come with any additional fees.

    What Does White Labeling Entail?

Enterprise account holders can change a lot of things about ActiveCampaign, including:

    • Custom domain – Change from [name].activehosted.com to [name].[company].com (our most popular white label feature)
    • Logo Rebranding – Replace ActiveCampaign logo
    • HTML/CSS Rebranding – Modify button colors, borders, font colors, font size, and much more
    • Add/remove buttons and other options – Coding accomplished by the agency
    • Remove all references and links to ActiveCampaign

Small business account holders can customize some, but not all, options. For a full comparison of available features at each plan level, check out our feature comparison page.

White labeling can be accomplished on a per-account level, which is unique to ActiveCampaign. If you have a specific customer, you can change the branding to their logo and colors, and remove global changes, to granularly manipulate a single account.

While removing all mentions of ActiveCampaign might seem arduous, it’s actually accomplished by a single checkbox:

This option is found in Settings > Appearance, and then at the very bottom of the screen.

    Agency White Labeling

ActiveCampaign agencies work with a wide range of brands and verticals. This makes the flexibility of the platform, including white label options, a real benefit. From huge marketing agencies to one-man shows, businesses and their needs are different. ActiveCampaign provides a framework to build upon, manipulate and change, to enable agencies to be successful.
Many ActiveCampaign agencies work within select industries, bringing together their knowledge of a particular business and marketing automation to provide additional value to their clients.

Most agencies and white label customers are marketing agencies or web designers, where email marketing isn’t their primary business, but a fitting add-on for their clients. There are even agencies that are full blown email marketing services, using ActiveCampaign entirely for the backend of their service.

In those cases, the agency’s value to their clients is their knowledge, expertise, and support. Agencies work directly with their clients on their day-to-day marketing automation needs. Agencies are the first line of customer service and support; these customers own the environment. If a agency’s client encounters an issue they can’t fix, the agency comes to ActiveCampaign behind the scenes and open a ticket.

Agency accounts have access to all normal support channels of a regular account. When agency fully manage their accounts, it can create customers loyalty.

Providing custom templates and automations is a powerful way for agencies to add value for their clients. Agencies can pre-build campaign templates to automatically be uploaded to any accounts. They can also choose if any ActiveCampaign templates remain or if they want to clear out all template samples.

When it comes to automations, ActiveCampaign agencies can copy and paste the URL for a recipe to import it into a specific account. This must be completed manually, by account.

If you have more coding skill and time, white label accounts enable a agency to create custom buttons, importing their own CSS; those modifications can be applied to all accounts.

Some agencies create a single sign-on through ActiveCampaign’s API; they have the ability to have clients sign into their white labeled ActiveCampaign account through the agency’s website.

ActiveCampaign consultants can also differentiate themselves on the consultants page; they establish themselves as experts in ActiveCampaign and other programs, such as WordPress, WooCommerce, or as a full marketing agency.

There’s a huge amount of flexibility in the platform. Agencies can manage their ActiveCampaign clients in a way that fits their business.

    Customer White Labeling

As mentioned earlier, both Small Business and Enterprise plans have white label options; Enterprise has the most flexibility.

Large corporations who use ActiveCampaign can re-brand the platform to look like a piece of internal software. For small business plans, customizing the domain is the most powerful option. You can also change the logo, but you do not have CSS/HTML editing abilities.

White labeling your domain can have great benefits for link tracking. When you log into a customized domain, link tracking continues through the same domain. There is a higher level of authentication, and it helps improve your deliverability ratings over time, avoiding spam filters. Custom domains help you establish a better domain relationship with those you send to, including Gmail, Yahoo, etc. As always, that relationship also relies on good sending habits.

ActiveCampaign’s white labeling options add an additional level of flexibility for agencies and direct customers.
