Meta Description

Definition

A meta description is a snippet of text used to summarize a web page’s content. Meta descriptions are usually about 155 characters (about 980 pixels) long. Within a web page’s HTML, meta descriptions can be found within the meta data.

Search engines often use meta descriptions in search results to let visitors know what a page is about before they click through. A meta description that contains the searched for keyword may get clicked on more frequently than one that does not.
