I’ve been at ActiveCampaign for 3.5 years. I work in the Executive Office where I focus on operations and special projects. As part of my role, I also serve as the lead for ActiveImpact, the philanthropic arm of ActiveCampaign, where our goal is to activate the company’s purpose and find ways to support our employees in making an impact in our communities and on the world.
ActiveImpact and our corporate giving initiative has been an integral part of ActiveCampaign for many years. From day 1 at ActiveCampaign, all employees get a strong sense that giving back is something the company feels deeply passionate about supporting and that all employees are encouraged to make an impact in any way they can whether it be volunteering, donating to a cause, or supporting their local communities. It has been so inspiring to witness the immense impact of our efforts over the years as we’ve grown from a couple hundred employees to now 1,000+ ACers around the globe today.
We see our employees (and customers) give back in a variety of ways, donating their time, talent and money to causes that they care about. ActiveCampaign wants to create space for employees to be good corporate citizens and to help amplify their impact, so we implemented a variety of initiatives:
1. Volunteer time off
Every employee has 3 days of volunteer time off (VTO), which equates to about 1% of time annually. We’re proud to be part of the Pledge 1% community and the movement that encourages companies to be a force for good. In addition to individual time off, as a team we have participated in volunteer events like Best Buddies Friendship Walk, park clean ups around our office hubs and mentoring youth entrepreneurs in business plan competitions.
2. Donation matching
Every employee receives an annual company donation match allotment of $500 USD or local equivalent for donations they make personally. To date our team has donated tens of thousands of dollars, but we’re just getting started.
3. Internal Giving Campaigns
We’re about to kick off our internal Campaign for Good, a company-wide giving event that coincides with GivingTuesday and the holiday season. Last year our team donated over $20,000 to food drives and many employees participated in gift drives for local organizations. We can’t wait to see the impact they are going to make this year.
4. Help our customers give back
As a company, we also think about the customer in everything that we do and this includes non-profit organizations. GivingTuesday is the biggest day for giving around the world, making it a very important moment for these non-profits. So we decided to put together a Marketing Toolkit with resources to support these organizations with their campaigns this year and help to engage their supporters for many years to come.
I am always amazed by our employees and customers who continue to rally behind our core value of pursuing growth with gratitude. Whether an employee is taking a volunteer day off, or one of our teams organizes a toy drive, or a customer uses our email builder to send out a charitable giving campaign, I love knowing that I am part of a company that is facilitating good in both big and small ways this holiday season and beyond.
