Suggested Web Hosts

Before choosing a web hosting provider:

1. Have reasonable expectations.
   The software can only perform as well as your web server allows. So a $4/mth hosting plan will not give you peak performance. Such a plan typically works fine for users with smaller lists / less email demands. If you are looking for the best performance we suggest a dedicated linux web server (with 4+ GB ram, optimized for MySQL, and a mail server that can handle the amount of emails you are looking to send...)
   
   
2. Check for limits ahead of time.
   If you do choose a shared web hosting plan we suggest to check for any email sending restrictions (such as a limit of emails per hours, restricting port 25, etc.. )
   
   
3. Ensure you have the resources, time, and know-how to use on-site edition software.
   If you are unfamiliar with the basics such as FTP, file permissions, setting up a MySQL database, etc.. we would highly suggest to sign up for our hosted software. Our hosted solution enables you to start using the software within minutes and let us handle the web server, mail sending, and most importantly the email deliverability.

Mail server options:

In addition to a web server that supports PHP & MySQL you will need a mail server to actually send the mail. Most web servers include a mail server with the same server/account so typically you do not have to get an extra mail server unless your web host has restrictions or you wish to increase your sending speed beyond what your default mail server is.

Popular mail server options:

• Qmail
• Postfix
• Exim
• Sendmail (not suggested for sending speed reasons)

There are commercial (paid) mail server options as well including:

• PowerMTA from Port25 (Requires a dedicated server that only runs the mail server)
