Sending iSalient Email Invitations using 1-2-All

As we work on further integrating iSalient with 1-2-All, we would like to introduce you to an integration technique that can be applied in current versions of our products.

Setting It Up

Let's say that you want to create a survey in iSalient and notify your future respondents using 1-2-All that the new survey is ready for them to use. First thing you will do is create a survey. Under Security Options, you will select "Restrict Survey with Access Codes" so you can have a unique identifier to tie your users to.

Only 1-2-All subscribers should respond to this survey:
You will have to list all 1-2-All subscribers in the "Access Codes" text box. In order to do so, log into your 1-2-All install, select the list you wish to send an invitation to, and go to Subscribers => Export page. On that page, select Email field only, and hit Export. You will end up with a list of email address, one address per row. Copy the complete output, and paste it into "Access Codes" box in iSalient.

Anyone can respond to this survey:
If you wish that anyone who receives an email from 1-2-All be able to take the survey, then leave the "Access Codes" box empty, and check the option "Add Access Codes on the Fly". (More about access codes in separate article.)

Sending Invitations

1. Log into your iSalient install and go to Survey => Manage page. Next to the survey in question, click "Deploy" link. On the landing page, select option "Text link for use in emails". That will show you the base URL of your survey (usually looks like http://www.isalient.com/app/index.php?survey_code=SURVEYID&login=1). Save that URL.
2. Log into your 1-2-All install, select a list in question and start creating a new mailing in it. On a second step of Message Create process, in message editor, you can include a slightly modified version of a iSalient link: http://www.isalient.com/app/index.php?survey_code=SURVEYID&login=1&access_code=%PERS_EMAIL%
That will include subscriber's email address into the link and make it a part of it.
* If you do not modify the survey link, then every subscriber will be prompted to enter their email address upon clicking the link.

What this technique will do, is, it will make your iSalient survey use client's email address as access code. Whoever receives an email from 1-2-All, will be able to take a survey if his email is included in the Access Codes list. If on-the-fly option is off, only the emails provided in Access Codes text box will be used. Otherwise, any entered email address will be let to take a survey.
