Troubleshooting Subscription Forms

If you've migrated subscription forms from 1-2-All version 4 to version 5, there may be a few settings that require a change, to ensure the subscription forms work properly. Version 4 subscription forms are intended to work seamlessly with version 5, although a few issues do come up.

First, make sure you've read our basic intruduction to subscription forms in version 5.

Incorrect Opt-In/Out confirmation set being used

A typical problem that occurs is the subscription form does not honor the lists' Opt-In/Out confirmation set. Instead, it uses a different confirmation set, unbeknownst to the user.

To correct this, edit the subscription form, and click Select All under the list select box:

This should cause a new section of the page to display, "Opt-In/Out Confirmation," right beneath "List Options."

Make sure "Send individual email confirmations for each list" (the top option) is selected. If the bottom option, "Send a single email confirmation for all lists," is selected, there will be another section displayed, which lets you choose an Opt-In/Out confirmation set to be used, instead of the confirmation set designated under list settings.

It's important to understand that if "Send a single email confirmation for all lists" (the bottom option) is selected, your subscription form will use whichever confirmation set is designated in the above section, and not the confirmation set designated in list settings.

To use the confirmation set designated in list settings, always make sure "Send individual email confirmations for each list" (the top option) is chosen.

Once chosen, go back and select the individual lists you want to use for the form (remember, it had selected all in our first step). Then you can hit "Update & Continue" to save the form.

Allowing users to subscribe via link

Another change from version 4 to version 5 is the individual links to subscription forms.

Here is a comparison of the links, using list ID 2 as an example:

Link description Version 4 Version 5
Link to complete subscription form with option to subscribe to multiple lists http://mymailingsite.com/12all/box.php?nl=2 http://mymailingsite.com/12all/index.php?action=subscribe&nl=2

Link to UN-Subscribe form without option to unsubscribe from multiple lists http://mymailingsite.com/12all/index.php?action=subscribe&mode=view_unsubscribe&nl=2&mlt=no http://mymailingsite.com/12all/index.php?action=unsubscribe&mlt=no&nl=2
