A very common error with bounced messages is that the bounced mail will be received by 12all, but 12all fails to process the bounced message for a particular subscriber. A common symptom of this problem is when you happen to see an error message like this when you check for bounces:
5 messages were processed. 0 were bounces.
When 12all sends out a mailing, it creates a special mail header and adds it to each message. This special mail header is unique to each email sent out, and contains the subscriber's email address and message ID, and other info.
This header looks like this in the message source:
X-mid: a2VudEBhY3RpdmVjYW1wYWlnbi5jb20gLCBtMjA=
When a message bounces, it is returned to the bounce-catcher inbox, and usually contains this header. 12all MUST be able to read this header in order to process bounced messages. If this header is absent from an email in your bounced inbox, then one of two things could be the case. Either the message did not originate from the 12all software (as would be the case if you sent an email directly to this address from your Outlook, etc...), or some mail server stripped out this mail header. Some mail servers are configured to do this, and 12all cannot control this from happening. If this is the case on your system, you may need to talk to your server administrator to find out why this is happening and to take steps to allow the header to remain.
Also note that this could happen for some emails with a certain domain name but not others. This is because it depends on the mail server that is accepting or rejecting the email. If 12all is not processing bounced mail for ANY domain, then it is likely that your mail server is the culprit.
