12all uses a simple to use interface that allows you to easily create, manage, and maintain lists of subscribers. We will just go over how to create and deploy a list of subscribers. This guide will help you get started quickly by using the basic features of 12all. For more in-depth information about setting up and using 12all to take advantage of all its advanced functionality, it is recommended that you come back later and spend some time looking through the rest of the 12all documentation.
To get started you will be asked to create a subscriber list the first time you login to 1-2-All. This list will include a name and a from email address. The From email address will be the default From email address which your subscribers will see as the email address the mailing is being sent from. You can set this to a different From email address when you go to compose a mailing and you can also set a separate Reply to email address. Only the From address will be seen from the subscriber. Your subscribers will not see any other subscribers email address, only their own and the sender's.
Your list will now appear in the subscriber list page. You are now ready to begin adding subscribers to your list. Click on the list to begin setting up and managing your subscriber list. If you already have a list of subscribers then the most common way of importing a list of subscribers is by importing a .csv file. You can import name, email address, and any additional subscriber fields contained in your .csv file.
If you have additional subscriber fields to import you must first create those custom fields by going to List -> Custom Subscriber Fields. You can store these additional subscriber fields in the form of a text field, text box, radio button, dropdown, etc. What you choose depends on what you want to use when you collect new subscribers through your subscription form.
When you are ready to begin importing your subscribers go to Subscribers -> Import Subscribers. There are two methods for importing, copy and paste or import from file. The most common is importing from a .csv file so click on Import From File. Browse for the file and then click on Import on the bottom. On the left you will see the first line of each column of your file. Match each column with the subscriber field the column belongs to.
Gathering new subscribers for your list can be done through the default public section of 12all or through generating a custom HTML subscription form which can then be copy and pasted onto any area of your web site. Your list will appear in the default public section unless you mark it private in your list settings by going to List -> List Settings if you are logged in as "admin." You can disable the public side by going Settings -> Script Settings and selecting Disable section. Your public section will be found in your root 12all directory. Something like www.....12all.
To generate your own subscription form go to Integration -> Subscription Forms and click on Create New Form. 12all has its own redirection fields for completed subscriptions, unsubscriptions, etc. You may however enter paths to your own landing pages by enering in URLs where you see fields under Optional Redirection Pages. Click on Generate when you are ready to create your subscription form code. Then you can copy and paste all your form code on to any area of your site by clicking inside the textbox and hitting Ctrl A to select all and then Ctrl C to copy.
Now that we know how to create a list of subscribers by importing and know how to gather additional subscribers we'll move on to sending. You can search for a working sending method through the mail configuration wizard. You can send using your server's default mail method, sendmail, or through SMTP. To test for a sending method go to Settings -> Mail Configuration Wizard.
When you have determined your method of sending you are now ready to compose and send a message. Click on Create a Message under Popular Tasks or under Messages -> Create New Message. The first page will allow you to select the type of mailing, usually HTML and Text, mailing lists to include in the mailing, and select any templates or sending filters that you want to apply to your mailing. After you submit next you can begin composing your mailing. When you are done hit Preview Message. You can click on Send Now if your Mailing is to your liking, go back and edit, save for later, save for editing, and send a simple test message to an email address to see how it comes out.
