SupportTrio 2.5 Development

You’re so great, I’m making a whole study out of you
David / Thursday Aug 18th 2005
A very interesting thing we’re working on in the marketing department is writing case studies about our exceptionally successful clientele. I recently completed the newest case study, which explains how Backpacker Tours Australia uses 1-2-All to target niche markets, resulting in a loyal following of thrill-seekers and leisure-time travelers alike.
A lot of businesses, I come to find out, make their entire living essentially just by using our software (yeah, it’s that good.) Plenty more use our products to augment their existing business, to give them the decisive edge in the areas of marketing and support.
If yours is one of the many businesses that realize a unique benefit from using ActiveCampaign software, consider coming forward and helping us understand how and why our products have become an integral part of your business. What challenges do you face as a business, and how does our software fit in to your overcoming of those obstacles? How does our software assist you in meeting and exceeding your goals, in excelling within your market?
Helping us to author your success story can mean increased recognition of your company’s status and accomplishment, as well as having the ability to influence the direction we take our development strategy. After all, what’s important to our most successful clients is doubly important to us.
So go ahead and take 5 minutes to explain your relationship with 1-2-All, KnowledgeBuilder, or SupportTrio. Thanks, and enjoy.

SupportTrio Update (bug fixes)
Jason / Monday Aug 15th 2005
We released a minor update to SupportTrio today. It covers the following issues:
> *Update 2.11*
> Fix for satellite desk limitations of KB articles in 10 most recent list
> Fix for certain types of attachments
> Fix for several slash issues and announcements
> Fix for adding tickets for a specific user from the admin interface
> Update to glossary feature to detect whole words only to replace
> Forwarded & Assigned ticket email notifications fix
The latest SupportTrio version is now 2.11. We do not expect any large updates (in terms of features) until our next planned major update. The next major update is going to involve restructuring of the code, implementing smarty templates throughout, a great number of new features, and enhancing the current features and debugging options.
If you should have any requests for this new version let us know at our forums or in the devtracker. More details regarding this update will be released once development has a strong start.
Webapp Context model
Chris / Thursday Aug 11th 2005
I haven’t done much reading about the “official” [patterns][1], like in the book [”Design Patterns”][2], but I’ve always understood patterns to be a concept more than something set in stone. I think someone once told me that design patterns are descriptions of things you already do, or maybe partially do, when you write software. They’re more descriptive than prescriptive you could say.
Anyway, in a few of the web-based applications I’ve written I’ve used this pattern that I’ve started calling the Context pattern. It’s probably more of a model than a pattern, as it’s comprised of a few components. It’s not quite fully fleshed out yet, but here are the basics of it (in fact I think I’ve heard of a pattern that someone called the delegator pattern, and it’s probably a lot like this, I should look it up):

Introduction, Body, Conclusion
David / Monday Aug 8th 2005
Good morning, everyone. I’m Dave, and I’ve been working with ActiveCampaign for just about two weeks. I thought a little introduction might be nice, as many of you will have opportunity to interact with me in my capacity as the new Support Tech.
I have background in technology, literature, and psychology—I’m a bit of a generalist. I look forward to working with each of you to help ensure that your experience with ActiveCampaign products is worry-free and delicious.
In addition to addressing all of your needs via the support center and by telephone, I’ll be writing and re-writing the user-manuals that make it so much easier for you to use all the wonderful new features of our software, and contributing to various marketing materials and campaigns. And, you know, it’s a great big old world; who knows what else I might end up doing?
Using Smarty Templates in KnowledgeBuilder
Chris / Thursday Aug 4th 2005
With the lastest version of [KnowledgeBuilder][1] came a huge change in how much flexibility the system gives you to tailor KB to your site’s look and feel. It used to be that the “public” section of KB was a collection of half HTML half PHP pages that were difficult to understand and edit. About the only thing you could do easily was specify a header and footer and change some colors via the master CSS file. Knowledge Builder 2.5x now uses the Smarty Template Engine to allow you to completely customize how your KB site looks and how the information is presented.

Minor update to KB
Jason / Thursday Aug 4th 2005
Today we released a minor update to KB. Version is 2.50.5
Covers a couple small issues such as the “sub category” header always being displayed when there is no sub category and some fixes for the KB admin startup page along with the KB export to pdf feature.
The usual intro
Chris / Wednesday Aug 3rd 2005
Just wanted to get something down in the way of an introduction of myself. My name’s Chris, I’ve been working at ActiveCampaign for a little over two months now. At first I was heavily involved in getting the newest version of KnowledgeBuilder out to the public by reworking a lot of the code, doing some cleaning up and implementing quite a few new features.
A little bit more about me: I’ve spent a couple years doing sofware development after graduating with a BA in Computer Science. I’ve spent lots of time doing PHP, C++, C, Java, Javascript, PERL, ActionScript2, and a little bit of Ruby (I wish I had more time to learn it better). I’m a pretty big Open Source advocate and supporter, and have spent time working on the KDE desktop environment in the past. When on computers, I generally live and work in Linux.
What I’m hoping to do with this weblog is to outline interesting technologies and techniques that I come across and write about cool stuff you can do with ActiveCampaign’s products.

iSalient – Survey Application Solution
Derek Entringer / Wednesday Aug 3rd 2005
iSalient has been in development for the last six months or so, and is going to be released for Beta testing near the end of August. I’m personally excited about this ActiveCampaign Solution, as all of the features that have been included are some of the most robust available within this market today.
